We started out selling hats & scarves at a roadside stall in the heart of Harajuku, Japan. It was 1983, when our founder Mr. Kawakami (originally from Osaka) sought a great opportunity in megalopolis Tokyo. Since then we grow little by little to serve articulate Japanese market.

With 17 years knowledge of making hats, a tiny office space was acquired in Los Angeles, California to explore US market in the centennial year of 2000. By the time of year 2001 we established a deal to represent another hat company, MAD FACTORY Inc, to license their hats in US market.

River Up USA has a vision - to bring the best of Japanese headwear (and urban essences of Japan) to the US. Our mission is to be a one stop access to best of Japanese accessories.
